5.50 : Rise and Fall
Dave just busted out after going all in with bottom pair and an ace kicker. Gretchen took him out with two pair. Crazy.
ATh. I raise to 120 from before the cutoff. Hank calls out of position and I pair my Ace. 6c As 2d. He checks, I bet 150, and he folds.
Ad3d next hand. I call a limp from gretchen. Ts Qd 9c. Checked to me. 3c on the turn and checked to me again. I bet 80 - half the pot. River is Kc and I check. Evan had a queen, so I'm back to 1500.
I complete with 59 suited and flop 9hThTs. I go ahead and bet 200. Gretchen calls. Turn comes a king and I bet 200 again. Gretchen raises to 600 and I fold.
I'm now 7th of 8 with 1000 chips.
Barry's the short stack and he keeps limping in to a lot of hands. He's probably going to be gone soon.
I complete with 32 after a million limps and flop bottom pair. It's all diamonds out there though so I'll just check and fold. I was only looking for the straight.
Heh. Barry got lucky and won a pot from Hank. Now I'm in last place by 5 chips, with 880 vs Hank's 885.
Blinds are up to 40/80, so I'm running out of time. I might raise with any suited connector, pair, or strong or suited ace now, until I win a pot or get stuck in fold or shove mode.
A6 suited and I raise to 250. Probably a bit much. Charlie calls and Evan is all in... Crap. I fold.
Sevens on the big blind. Flop is 9 A 6... Turn is a 5 and I shove since everyone checked on the flop.
I'm down to 790 now. I should update that strategy. I still want to loosen up before I'm gone completely but I want to use position too.
Like here, I raise to 200 with 66 from the cutoff and win pre-flop. I like that play.
I'm now 7th of 8 with 910 chips, 300 ahead of Hank and only 60 behind Alice.
Well, Hank's out.
I complete again with 4c 6c and flop a 4 and 2 clubs. I check. With 500 in the pot, my plan is to check shove. Charlie and I wind up chopping the pot.
TT on the cutoff. I raise to 250 after gretchen limps. Charlie is all in. I think I call here. Yep. He has QK and I get my 10 on the turn. I win a big pot and am now in 3rd place.
I'll tighten up again here for a while.
I sit out a couple hands and come back just in time to get AKo. I raise preflop from first position and win the pot.
Alice shoves with A4suited and gets taken out by Charlie's fives when he flops a full house. Next hand Charlie takes out Barry with a straight.
I'm now in 4th place out of 5. Blinds are 80/160 and I have 2110 so it's anyone's game.
I win a small pot with a queen high flush. I try to do it again on the button with Qc3c. Here I bluff a bit at the pot, but Charlie calls and bets on the turn so I fold.
Evan shoves all in again on my suited ace raise. This time I call and wind up with trip 8s against his pocket fours.
I'm 3rd of 4 on the button with AQo. Charlie calls and I raise to 400 and pair my ace. He bets and I raise and take down the pot.
I'm now the chip leader. Gretchen looks like she wants to raise my blinds and then thinks better of it.
Charlie takes the lead for a minute. But now I have jacks on the big blind and shove against his raise and he folds.
A few hands and I'm up to 4765. A thousand chip lead over the next guy. That's only 5 big blinds though.
Hah. 3 7 in the blind and it comes 767. I slowplay but Charlie's not biting.
I raise early and show AQ when they fold.
Eh. Charlie calls my bluff and takes the lead again. He seems to be my main competition at this table. Gretchen's running out of chips.
33 and I raise gretchen's blinds. She shoves with AQ but my pair holds up. We're in the money.
Well, I cleverly give all but 610 of my chips to Frankie in one hand. Smart.
Fold or shove mode... But it doesn't last long.
I won $9, though, for a $3.50 profit.
