Another 5.50
First hand, pocket ducks in the big blind. Flop is Ks 5c 4s. I just bet the pot to see where I'm at. Barry calls. Turn is an Ace. I bet 150 and he folds.
I fold A8 suited in the small blind to a raise and a call. Evan and Alice wound up all in, and Evan busted out.
I'm in 2nd place with 1635.
Dave's playing a lot of hands but he's also showing them and he's getting good cards. JJ. AK. His set of sixes didn't help him, though, and now he's the short stack, Alice is back where he started, Hank has all the money, and I'm still in 2nd place.
Barry limps in on my big blind again, makes a small bet. I check call hiss small bet with middle pair of nines. There's a king out there and I get the impression he's scared of it. An ace comes on the turn so I bet 150 - about half the pot - and he folds.
Next hand Barry takes a big chunk of Hank's stack so now I'm in 3rd but they're both about 800 a head of me.
As Qh and I raise to 150 from UTG+1. Charlie calls. Flop is Js 3s 9d. I bet 200 and he raises to 400. I call and it comes another spade. I bet 300, almost half his stack, and he folds. I'm up to 2380 now, only 300 behind Hank.
Barry limps into my blind AGAIN. Charlie, Gretchen and Hank all call. I just have 4s 9c. The flop sucks for me so I'm done with this hand. Charlie winds up shoving and makes a straight, taking another big chunk out of Hank. I'm now in 2nd and only a few chips behind Barry.
Barry and Hank are pretty loose players. They keep butting heads and I think one will knock the other out pretty soon.
I raise to 200 with QJ from before the cutoff and pick up the blinds. Hank wins a couple pots and is back in the lead by about 1000 chips. I'm around 2400 and everyone else is below 1500.
Barry actually min raises my blinds this time. I call with Qc9c but the flop doesn't help me. Check chekc and I bet 100 just to push him off the pot since he folded every other time and it works again.
There goes Gretchen. She was short stacked and let Hank draw out on her rather than just shoving with her 10s.
And... Barry shoves all in with ducks and Dave calls and wins with KT offsuit. Looks like Charlie broke 2000 but I'm still in 2nd.
AJo in the big blind. I fold to a min raise from Alice and a min reraise from Dave. Alice shoves, Dave calls, and dave wins.
I fold mi As6s from the small blind. I'm learning to only raise with those suited aces. I want fold equity and miracle flops. I think that's what Scott Fischman was saying all along but I'm just letting it sink in.
But I will bet 200 with As 9s from under the gun. And another 200 when my fourth spade comes on the turn.
Charlie's going kinda nuts. He's actually taken second place now but seems to be gunning for Hank.
Frankie seems to be waking up here too now that we're five handed. Too bad he calls all in with a flush draw and Hank takes him out with a pair of fours on the river.
I pick up some blinds with A8 off and a 2.5x bet.
Okay. I'm in 3rd place on the bubble and blinds are 50/100.
I call a small raise with 2s 5h and pair my 5. It's bottom pair though. He raises but I get another 5. I bet half his stack. He shoves. I call, and win with a full house.
Sixes. And a set.
Jacks. I shove and win and am now the chip leader vs Hank.
Heads up.
We go back and forth a bit but he wins in the end. I make $13.50 for a net profit of $8.
